Spring Cache In Trash Out® Meetup
Date: Sunday, April 25th
Location: Brecksville Metroparks Reservation
Meet up with other geocachers in the beautiful Brecksville Metroparks Reservation and help keep this hotbed of caches clean!
We will start at 2:00PM with a Meet-and-Greet for attendees! Whether you’re a caching veteran or new to the game, this presents a wonderful opportunity to meet other people who share your love of the hunt, get some great tips and advice, and maybe even make some new friends!
After that, we will set out on the trails. We aim to sweep through various portions of the park to clean up trash, debris, and some other pollutants from the area. In doing so, we will be providing a clean and beautiful piece of nature for everyone to enjoy! We will also be helping to provide a cleaner, healthier habitat for many species. Who knows? We may even find a couple of geocaches along the way.
We chose this location for the first event for the a few reasons:
-The Brecksville Metroparks Reservation hosts critical habitat to a wide number of species. More crucially, this reservation contains critical habitats for threatened species of Ohio such as: Indiana Bats, Northern Long-Eared Bats, Copperbelly Water Snakes, and Eastern Massasauga Rattlesnakes. Beyond these species, the prairies, meadows, forests, and wetlands of this reservation provide important habitat space and food sources for so many of the important insects of Ohio.
-The cleanliness of the watersheds of this reservation is important, as many of them feed directly or indirectly into one of the nation’s most infamous rivers, the mighty Cuyahoga. Spring melt-floods, as well as the spring rains, tend to move a lot of debris and garbage through these watersheds and into the river.
-It’s a geocacher’s paradise! At the moment, this reservation contains over 30 hidden containers! Of these, you can find a good variety of cache types and difficulties. Seeking these containers will take you through beautiful prairies, jagged ravines, beautiful forestry, active wetlands, and over streams and valleys! The cleaner we can make this place, the more enjoyable the park is for everyone!
This meet-up event is free and open to everyone!
Some supplies will be provided, but may be limited.

This event must be rescheduled for summer. This means that the date of April 15th is no longer in effect. We are very sorry! Unfortunately, we ran into some trouble getting this event approved in a timely fashion by the Cleveland Metroparks. Please keep an eye out for more updates on future events!
